Spring recap – Basically whales, whales, whales!

Posted on by admin

Wet and gray, rainy day after rainy day, April and the beginning of May were turning out to be a continuation of Vancouver’s never-ending winter. One big difference that helped keep our spirits high was of course, the return of whale watching season!

As stealthy as they are, we have seen transient (Bigg’s) killer whales most days of the week. Quite often we were fortunate enough to encounter them on a seal or sea lion kill and observe the different roles required by each family member during a hunt. More than a few of these days took place just around the corner in beautiful Howe Sound, and we are hoping to have many more encounters in those beautiful emerald green waters!

We are still experiencing the “Humpback Comeback” that has been much talked about in the media over recent years. These gorgeous goliaths have been successful at finding food nearby, so much so that we have seen them on roughly 50% of our trips!

Finally we have sun for the long weekend so we have been busy. Make sure to book your tour at least a couple of days in advance to guarantee your seat on an adventure of a lifetime!
